I’ve gotten everything I’ve ever wanted.

It sounds pretentious and spoiled when I say it out loud or write it down. But it’s true. When I set my mind to something, I wind up getting what I’ve set out to accomplish. Does it always look like the visions in my daydreams? Heck no.

The arduous journey of landing my dream job wasn’t realized overnight. It was nine years in the making. Nine years to accept an offer for a position that checked every box on my, admittedly lengthy, wishlist. Nine years to step foot inside a private office all my own with a title I could covet and display on LinkedIn. Nine years to drive home and think to myself, “What in the world have I done?”

I landed my dream job and hated it. Here’s why I hope you do, too.

Being Uncomfortable Leads to Positive Risk-Taking

Comfort leads to complacency. It’s unfortunate, but oftentimes we need to be put in a place of discomfort to make a change.
